Banner Nursery Art

With our third baby girl (who is now a whole month old!), we didn't repaint the nursery.  Mostly it was because I couldn't face the task with our basement finish going on and being pregnant, but I also thought I might be able to work with the blue.  I decided to go with blue, raspberry pink, and white, which is pretty similar to what I already had going on.  I am using this nursery as inspiration.  The whole project is really just getting started, and to kick it all off I made this wall art using the new Detailz Dies from Lifestyle Crafts.

Detailz Dies are cutting dies that cut and emboss in one pass when you use thick paper, plus you can use the die as a stencil.  I used the Banners set, and I love how it turned out!  I also used letterpress paper, which is thick enough to do the cut and emboss at once.  The blue and pink banners are letterpress paper that I covered with washi tape first.  I strung the banners on embroidery floss and added a sweet little initial.  So cute and easy!

Father's Day Tie Banner

Ok, let's face it.  Father's Day isn't usually a holiday I decorate for.  At all.  But this year, I happened upon this great free printable.  She has another Father's Day banner in the printable, but it was a big bigger than I needed, so I actually ended up using the "centerpiece"-sized ties.

It was so easy!  All I did was cut out the ties and tape them to a thick piece of hemp twine.  If you are hanging your banner in front of a mirror like me, make sure you use clear tape.  Then I just taped the twine to the top of the mirror and had some serious Father's Day festiveness going on!

I have another Father's Day idea to share later.  It's another one I got from someone else's blog.  I know, real original, but I had a lot of fun with it.  I think you will, too.

  

Easter Banner Free Printable

Hello!  Today I am sharing with you my very first free printable.  I make things like this for myself all the time, so I thought I had better get spreading the love.  This is a simple circular Easter banner.  For mine, I tied the beaded eggs ornaments along a length of ribbon and taped the circles over each knot.  Then, I just used pushpins to secure it to the wall above my entry hall mirror.  Piece of cake!  I got the beaded eggs at Tai Pan Trading, for those of you with one of those around.

  To download the printable, click on the image.  It will take you to a new page, where you can right-click and save the photo.  Then, just print the image the original size and cut out the circles.  You can make them into a banner, like I have done, or you could use them as party decorations, Easter tree ornaments, etc.  Use your imagination, and show me what you come up with!

Pennant Banner

The nursery wall decor is finally complete!  I made the pennant banner with our baby's name a couple of weeks ago, and I just barely got around to hanging it today.  I also hung four 8"x10" photos that we took and had printed.  You can see a couple of them in the photo above and in the last photo. 

For the pennants, I used fabric remnants from her quilt and car seat canopy.  Each piece was ironed onto fusible interfacing for sturdiness, both visual and physical.  I used heat-transfer vinyl with flocking for the letters.  It was my first experience using it, and it was super easy to cut the letters on my Silhouette and iron them onto the fabric.  The edges were trimmed with pinking shears, then all the pieces were sewn onto a long piece of brown satin ribbon.  I really love how it turned out, and it fills in that wall very nicely.

My mom found some flowers for the awesome yellow vase that I got at IKEA.  I finally feel like the little details are finished!

I've finished and hung a winter wreath chandelier above our dining area that I'll be sharing later in the week.
